We are seeking a Quality and Risk Officer within the Corporate team, based in Brisbane. In this hands-on role working within a close-knit team, you’ll help us make a real difference to people’s lives and to the future of our organisation.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, we deliver extensive primary healthcare and 24-hour emergency service, from nine strategic bases, to those who live, work and travel throughout Queensland.

About the role:

  • Location: Brisbane Corporate Office (5-7 Lobelia Circle, Brisbane Airport)

The role of Quality and Risk Officer provides expertise, advice, support and leadership to assist the implementation, maintenance and improvement of organisational wide quality and risk management frameworks. You will also be responsible for providing support and training to ensure quality and risk management is understood and adopted by all staff on a day to day basis. 

This role has a high level of autonomy and therefore will suit someone who is self-motivated with previous experience in quality assurance, internal audits and continuous improvement processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintenance of an organisation wide quality and risk management framework and the provision of an effective and proactive audit assurance function.
  • Work closely with management and employees to support them in adopting current best practices in risk management, compliance and quality management.
  • Plan and implement internal audits in accordance with the annual internal audit plan.
  • Ensure that the RFDS Quality Management System remains compliant with ISO 9001 certification by way of on-going communication, consultation, and monitoring and review activities.

Dependent of qualifications and experience a salary range of up to $72,000 will be offered plus super and generous salary sacrifice provisions to increase your take home pay. In addition, you’ll have the unique opportunity to travel across our Queensland bases and see how your actions positively impact our people.

Furthermore, you will be supported in your endeavours to develop new skills in a close-knit team which encourages the sharing of ideas and knowledge.

Who are we looking for?

RFDS is looking for an experienced Quality and Risk Officer who holds recognised Quality Management System ISO9001:2015 auditor certification. You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and be able to work autonomously. The role will travel to various RFDS Base locations so you will need to be able to travel overnight (typically up to 4 nights) approximately 8 times per year. You will have experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures and work instructions, as well as, an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including database management.

Experience in Lean Methodology and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification, as well as previous exposure to aviation or clinical practices would be highly desirable.

If successful, you must be willing to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a criminal history check, and be eligible to obtain ASIC clearance.
